The 7th USERN Congress and Prize Awarding Festival, 3rd Day, November 10th

The in-person programs of the 7th USERN Congress and Prize Awarding Festival have finished!

As the world celebrates the UN Day of Science for Peace and Development on November 10th, the 7th international USERN congress approaches its final stages. To commemorate the role that science plays in improving global solidarity and prosperity, we at USERN dedicated the first part of today’s event to celebrate this day. However, this is not the only thing we’re celebrating … It is time for the 7th USERN Prize Awarding Festival, our annual prize to promote young scientists who are broadening the horizons of science and making a difference in their respective fields! After a rigorous evaluation by the USERN Prize committee, about 300 researchers who have been the first author of the papers published in Q1 journals during 2020 and 2021 were chosen to proceed to the next round. The winners of this year’s prize were the following:

  • The 2022 USERN Prize laureate in Formal Sciences: Fabien Lotte from France
  • The 2022 USERN Prize laureate in Physical and Chemical Sciences: Mirjana Dimitrievska from Switzerland
  • The 2022 USERN Prize laureate in Biological Sciences: Jianing Fu from the USA
  • The 2022 USERN Prize laureate in Medical Sciences: Sara De Biasi from Italy
  • The 2022 USERN Prize laureate in Social Sciences: Joseph Firth from the UK

Afterward, the final round of this year’s junior talks was chaired by Dr. Andrea Cossarizza, Dr. Maha Al-Khaduri, and Dr. Mirjana Dimitrievska, with a focus on Integrated Medicine. After lunch, we invited each of this year’s USERN Prize laureates to deliver a keynote speech. The in-person part of the congress thus came to an end with a Closing Ceremony by Prof. Nima Rezaei, the founding president of USERN, and Dr. Maha Al-Khaduri, the local chair of the congress. As a last-minute surprise, we also revealed the host of the next year’s congress: Russian Armenian University in Yerevan, Armenia.

The Congress, however, is not entirely finished. The virtual part of the congress continued today with virtual talks on Medical Sciences. Stay tuned for the next parts of the virtual congress on tomorrow and the day after that (November 11th and 12th), with talks on Social and Formal Sciences delivered by bright researchers from around the world!
