USERN Talk Series One: New Computational Paradigms and PET Scan from Inspiration to Revolution: Two passed:Two are yet to come
Second week of September 2016 brought about two amazing lectures, last by the Iranian genius and pioneer in imaging techniques, developer of the PET imaging technique; Professor Abass Alavi M.D., aassociate Director, Center for the Study of Aging, University of Pennsylvaniaand first by his long time student in the field of big data, and computational methods, a distinguished young researcher from BEACON Center, Michigan State University; Dr. Amir Hossein Gandomi.
Dr. Gandomi and Professor Alavi, both invited lectures to the Iranian Human Brain Mapping conference from on Sep 17th-21st, accepted USERN Talk invitation in the middle of their hectic schedule during their short visit of Iran.
Natured-inspired computation for real world problems, was the title of his talk, this week, Sunday at the Omid Hall of CMC hospital, Tehran. Amir Hossein Gandomi, mentioned the big dilemma’s in the utility of big data to solve major challenges our world is facing today and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning with some day to day examples in today’s world.
A pioneer in medical imaging and another USERN advisory board member, Professor Alavi gave an inspiring lecture on the "Revolutionary impact of PET imaging on medical research and day to day practice of medicine". With more than 40 students in a hot evening, at the edge of new semester at TUMS, the second of the four USERN Talks in a series happened yesterday on Sep 15th.
