Objective

The group aims to take advantage of an inter-disciplinary network (Medicine, Physics, Engineering, and Pharmacology) involving academic setting, private sector, and industry in order to enhance efficiency of different therapeutic modalities in treatment of refractive errors, cataract and keratoconus. Achievement of a superior vision by any patient suffering from eye disorders is the mission of this group.

Definition

The group focuses on clinical and basic research in ophthalmology. Main topics of interests are refractive surgery, cataract, and keratoconus. In refractive surgery, the group is among the first research groups investigating newly introduced laser-assisted surface–ablative refractive surgery, Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy (TransPRK). The group has notably contributed to building up the body of evidence pertaining to different aspects of this procedure.

School

The first International Optic School on presbyopticcs

This was the 1st international optic school held in Iran. It was on presbyopia. The idea, plan and co-ordination was done by Dr. Adib-Moghaddam. Professor Ioannis Pallikaris and Dr. Pablo Artar were amongst main lecturers. It was held in March 5, 2015 in Razi Hall.

2nd International Optics School (focus on Aberrations)

The Universal Council of Ophthalmology (UCO) is now organizing the 2nd International Optics school (May 24-26 2017), chaired by Professor Ionians Pallikaris. Dr. Pablo Artal and Dr. Hariloas Ginis are other honorable invited lecturers. Lectures on applied Optic Physics and Clinical Ophthalmology, with more focus on Aberrations are the main part of programme. Dr. SOHEIL ADIB-MOGHADDAM, M.D., founder of the UCO, holds the title Scientific Secretary of the optic school who proposed the idea and plan. USERN _Net and BEHRC accompany UCO in running this breath-taking scientific event. Ophthalmology specialists, medical students interested in ophthalmology, graduateds or students of Optic Physics, Optometry, and bio-mechanic engineering can best enjoy the scientific material delivered in this school.
