USERN 3rd anniversary had more special guests and celebrity faces that this the real Oscars! From TUMS directors, to movie stars and TV hosts, USERN executive pulled all stops in organizing its 3rd anniversary in Tehran. Those who attended believed that this was one of the best USREN events they had attended and we believe it was the birth of a new form of creative lectures and art performances.
The final performance of miniature talk lectures was perhaps the most creative program of the evening. Winners of each of the five rounds of USERN miniature talks gathered to create a sequence of six minute lectures tied to each other by music performance of the top artists. The key chain in all lectures was the element of "relation" delivered by Ms. Farnaz Barneh, Ms. Elham Tavasoli, Mr. Mohammadreza Mahmanzar, Mr. Mohammad Javad Kamali Ashtiani, and Ms. Saleheh Ebadi Rad.
Remember the HEART music band and their rehearsal session with the Dal-band? Most believed this to be the best performance of the event, with several familiar pieces played by the HEART band and later the HEART band signing along with some famous tracks of the Dal Band. Both groups later joined the crowd under the stage for a group photo and applause.
Strong performance of the special host, Mr. Safarainpour was perhaps another highlight of the event. With now and then descriptions about the events and performers and occasional jokes, Mr. Safarianpour performance was a proof that a professional host can make a difference in the overall success of the event. Other celebrities of the event were Ms. Shaghayegh Dehghan and Mr. Ehsan Rezaei and TUMS officials, including Prof. Bahaodouri, rector of the faculty of medicine, Professor Nafisi and Prof. Parvin Pasalar.
Introduction of USERN Junior Ambassadors was the next program with a touch of art of its own. USERN welcomed 45 new members to the USERN Organizing Committee, 20 of which were in Tehran at the moment to receive their official letter of credence from USERN president and read their pledge. USERN Junior Ambassadors are going to realize USERN networking goals in their countries. Their mission to introduce the USERN platform and propagate USERN goals within the scientific community all over the world.
It was time for scientific celebrities to amaze the audience with Cosmopolitanism, by Dr. Hamidreza Namazi, expert in medical ethics, bioenergy economy by Dr. Farzad Goli, hypnotherapist and psychologist, and Phorensis by Dr. Alireza Monajemi, researcher in common philosophy. The senior mTalk lectures were as always accompanied by art performances of artists Saba Golbaz, Mahnaz Aghazeinalabedini Sheremineh Moieni, Ebrhaim Olfat, Sara Sadat Hosseini, Speideh Shahkarami and Maryam Jafari.
The final frame was created by USERN advisors who joined together on the stage to recognize winners of the USERN travel grant and USERN advisors who provided the grants, as well as the Basir Eye Health Research Center who solely undertook travel expense of 6 USERN delegates for USERN Congress 2018. USERN Shiraz Office and the Universal Council of Epidemiology were recognized as USERN top office and interest group of 2018 respectively.
