USERN President is the invited speaker in a course in Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases: From Bench to Bedside run by the GIAN network, under strategic support of the Panjab University and the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN). The course, running from February 18 to 22, is meticulously designed to introduce the immune system and primary immunodeficiency diseases to a variety of target groups, including students at all levels and faculty members of basic and clinical medicine. The course will also provide details related to predominantly antibody deficiencies, structure and function of phagocytic cells and their defects, congenital neutropenia, common variable immunodeficiencies, combined immunodeficiencies, syndromic immunodeficiencies. Another objective is to introduce immunological screening tests and treatment of immunodeficiency diseases with clinical case studies. Top notch Indian scientists, including Dr. Surjit Singh, Dr. Amit Rawat, and Dr. Deepak Salunke, are co-lecturers with Professor Rezaei, in this semi-private elite course, with 50 attendees only. 

Adding a personal touch to the curriculum, a significant portion of Professor Rezaei’s lectures are dedicated to explaining the role of Toll-Like Receptor (TLR) signalling in primary immune deficiencies, cancer immunotherapy and cancers in primary immunodeficiency diseases as well as TLRs as target for drug discovery. 

The Course will go on for another 3 days in Chandigarh before introduction top delegates on Friday February 22. As part of the USERN agreement to support the course, GIAN offered 10 travel scholarships to USERN members to take part in this course.
