USERN proudly announces Professor Giorgio Parisi, Nobel Laureate in Physics, as a member of its advisory board.
USERN proudly announces Professor Giorgio Parisi as a member of its advisory board. Prof. Parisi is an Italian theoretical physicist, who was slected as the Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics in 2021.
Prof. Parisi was born on August 4th, 1948, in Rome, Italy. He received his degree from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1970 under the supervision of Nicola Cabibbo. He is now professor of Quantum Theories at the Sapienza University of Rome. Hi research has focused on quantum field theory, statistical mechanics and complex systems. His best known contributions are the QCD evolution equations for parton densities, obtained with Guido Altarelli, known as the Altarelli–Parisi or DGLAP equations. He was awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics jointly with Klaus Hasselmann and Syukuro Manabe for groundbreaking contributions to theory of complex systems, in particular "for the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales".
Professor Parisi received many prestigious awards, including Feltrinelli Prize (1986), Boltzmann Medal (1992), Dirac Medal of the ICTP (1999), Enrico Fermi Prize (2002), Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics (2005), Microsoft Award (2007), Max Planck Medal (2011), Lars Onsager Prize (2016), Pomeranchuk Prize (2018), and Wolf Prize (2021).
Since USERN promotes science without borders, which aligns with Prof. Parisi’s vision, he was a perfect match to join the advisory board. Prof. Parisi’s joining to the USERN advisory board strengthens an already impressive assembly of Nobel laureates.
