Christopher Ryan Maboloc


Dr. Christopher Ryan Maboloc is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the Ateneo de Davao University and currently, Visiting Professor at the American University of Sovereign Nations. He finished his doctorate in philosophy,
maxima cum laude, at the University of San Carlos. He obtained his Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Applied Ethics from Linkoping University in Sweden and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. He completed his Master’s in Philosophy from Ateneo de Manila University. He graduated AB Philosophy,
cum laude
, at the Ateneo de Davao University. He was twice the Erasmus Mundus Representative for Applied Ethics, and was a delegate to the 2007
Erasmus Mundus GA in Brussels, Belgium. Dr. Maboloc was trained in Democracy and Governance at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Bonn and Berlin, Germany. He has presented papers at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, Perdana University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Kumamoto University and Nagoya University in Japan, the Universal Science Education Research Network Congress, the Asian Bioethics Association Conference, and at the International Public Health Ambassador Conference of AUSN. He has given a hundred public lectures and talks to various colleges and universities, including the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, Silliman University, Mindanao State University -Iligan Institute of Technology, and the University of San Carlos. He is the Editor for the Philosophy and Ethics section in the
Social Ethics Society Journal of Applied Philosophy. He is a peer-reviewer in a dozen Scopus-indexed international journals. His publications include more than 70 articles in international and local journals, including 18 indexed in Scopus, such as the Philosophical Quarterly of Israel, Techné: Research in Philosophy and Technology, Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness, Oxford's Journal of Public Health, and the
Journal of Human Values. He is the founding president of the Social Ethics Society (2011-14), the Secretary of the Board of the Centrist Democracy Political Institute (2012-14), and the Vice President of the Philosophical Association of the Visayas and Mindanao (2006-08). He is a member of the Society for Philosophy and Technology (2017-22) and the Universal Science Education Research Network (2020-2022). Awards Nominee for Best Column, he has written more than 100 social and political commentaries for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He was awarded the Public Intellectual Prize in 2020 by the Philosophical Association of the Philippines. He is the author of the book Radical Democracy in the Time of Duterte.
