Training and Skills

Clinical Internship:  Four main shifts each of 3 months duration, a total of one year – Compulsory clinical training with the Federal Ministry of Health a total period of 3 months in general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and general medicine.

National Service: 1 year in urology and ENT departments at Alribat National Hospital.

Clinical Immunology MD training at the Sudan Medical Specialization Board, year one of four:

Year one: Clinical laboratory rotations, covering immunological tests and methods. It included course work with lectures and tutorials in basic, clinical immunology, clinical genetics and molecular biology. 

Year two: Clinical rotations in hospital, a registrar in general internal medicine and paediatrics; in cardiopulmonary unit and Paediatric Neurology Unit Soba University Hospital – May to June 2014 – Soba University Hospital.

Job description and role: 

It includes diagnosing and managing patients with immunodeficiency (primary or secondary), malignancy, autoimmunity and allergy including food, skin allergies as well as anaphylaxis cases. Also, it is within our specialty to prepare patient candidates for organ transplantation, including tissue typing, cross matching, conditioning and as well as managing patients pre and post transplantation. In addition, as a clinical immunologist, I can manage patients with severe allergy requiring hyposenstization therapy, and patients receiving immunotherapy e.g. biologicals or patients on plasmaphoresis or Immunoglobulin replacement therapy.

Skills: Excellent leader, but a co-operative and active team member who loves to take part in different projects and challenges. I am a professional, keen and active worker, punctual and values work ethics and a professional harmony within the workplace. I have very good computer skills and have been involved in issuing and writing many medical and case reports. 

Accomplishments, courses and workshops:

I have successfully passed the part one examination of the MD degree in Clinical immunology in February 2013. 

I have attended and participated in several society meetings, locally and internationally, such as the XXI congress of the international academy of pathology (2012), and Sudanese Physicians' Association conference and workshops. 

Several local workshops, in rheumatology, blood transfusion medicine, kidney transplantation in association with the American Society of Kidney transplantation, which was sponsored by the Sudanese American Medical Association. 

Junior Member of the European Academy for Allergy and Clinical Immunology – 2013 to present.

A speaker and participant in Sudan-A project for Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases awareness - Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases training day and workshop. As part of the Africa-A project for PID by the African Society for Immunodeficiency (ASID) (April 29th 2014).

Attended several doctoral courses at Karolinska Institutet in basic immunology, pathogenesis of immune mediated diseases, transplantation immunobiology, and clinical immunology in infectious diseases (2011-2015). 

Attended the first international dialysis conference arranged by the Sudanese society of Nephrology (2015).

Attended the pre conference workshops of the international conference of General Internal Medicine, arranged by Sudanese Society of Physicians (SAP), Khartoum - Sudan (2016).

Thesis Defence was conducted successfully in October 2016. Thesis Title: HMGB1 as a Potential Disease Marker of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Sudanese patients.

Passed the 2nd part clinical MD in immunology (specialty) written exam (January 2017).

Passed the final clinical examination for awarding the clinical MD Immunology and Allergy – Clinical Immunology MD Awardee (August 2017). 

Member of the Sudanese Society for Clinical Immunology and Allergy – active member, currently responsible for organizing and scheduling of all the monthly meetings in addition to annual sponsored projects, events and lectures. 

Attended the International Primary Immunodeficiencies Congress organized by International Patient Organization for Primary Immunodeficiency (IPOPI), held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (November 2017). 

Participated in European Society for Immunodeficiency (ESID),  primary immunodeficiency course, in Reggio Calabria, Italy – Poster presentation and winning poster oral presentation. (November 2018).
